How much faster is a home wallbox compared to a standard 3-pin plug?
A dedicated 7kW home charger is roughly 3 times faster than a standard socket. While a 3-pin plug might take 18-24 hours to charge a modern EV, a Zappi or Hypervolt wallbox can usually do it in 6-8 hours (overnight).
Can I charge my car using only my solar panels?
Yes! By using a "Solar-aware" charger like the myenergi zappi, the charger can monitor your solar production and only send surplus energy to the car. This means you are literally driving on 100% free, green sunshine.
What is the difference between a Tethered and Untethered charger?
A Tethered charger has the cable permanently attached (like a petrol pump), which is more convenient for daily use. An Untethered charger has a socket, meaning you use your own cable. This looks neater on the wall and is more future-proof if you change car brands.
Will installing a car charger trip my house's main fuse?
No. We install "Load Management" technology with every charger. This "brain" monitors how much power your house is using (e.g., if the oven and shower are both on) and automatically slows down the car charge to protect your fuse.
Do I need a special electricity tariff for an EV?
You don't need one, but we highly recommend it. Special EV tariffs offer incredibly cheap rates (often under 10p per kWh) during the night. Our smart chargers can be scheduled to only charge during these cheap windows.
